Stephen R. Baird, Shareholder and Chair of the Intellectual Property and Trademark and Brand Management practice group at Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., will share practical and fascinating information aimed to help protect and prevent executives, creatives and their companies and clients from giving away their most precious assets. Through examples, stories and best practices, he will capture your attention with good reasons to reexamine how to do business and plan accordingly, because branding and trademarks are more than just selecting a name.

Baird joined Winthrop & Weinstine as a shareholder in 2003 with more than a decade of experience in the intellectual property arena.

He heads the Intellectual Property and Trademark and Brand Management practice groups, and his practice emphasizes trademark law, related unfair competition law and copyright law. Baird counsels clients on trademark usage and clearance, branding strategies, domestic and worldwide portfolio management, litigation and enforcement, Internet domain name disputes, licensing and prosecution. He also handles trademark litigation matters in federal district court and in proceedings before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. In addition, Baird manages both large and small U.S. and international trademark portfolios for a wide variety of companies.

In 2004, Baird was named one of the top 25 trademark attorneys in the nation.  Baird was the only attorney in Minnesota to make this national listing of top trademark attorneys. He has served on the Editorial Board of the Trademark Reporter and the Brief Amicus Committee of the International Trademark Association. He is a frequent contributor to Create Magazine.

Baird has been a Planner of the Annual Midwest IP Institute since its inception in 2002, and has served as an Editor of The IP Book since the 1st Annual Edition in 2003.
