Leo Steidel is vp of software at the Weidt Group, and has been leading technical software product development teams for more than twenty years. He holds several patents in the area of person/machine interface design. Charlie Carroll is a project manager at the Weidt Group. He has led numerous high tech product development efforts, including the award winning imagesetter used to create the movie "Toy Story." Luncheon Presentation Success Factors - Reflections on a Career in Business Michael W. Wright, chairman & ceo of SUPERVALU Inc. and SME's 2001 sales executive of the year Mr. Wright will be awarded SME's coveted Sales Executive of the Year Award and will detail his career successes at SUPERVALU Inc. Michael Wright practiced law for 13 years with the firm of Dorsey & Whitney, Minneapolis before joining SUPERVALU Inc. as a senior vice president in 1977. He was elected president and chief operating officer in 1978 and became chief executive officer in June 1981. He assumed the additional responsibilities of chairman of the board in October 1982. A native Minnesotan, Mike graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts in 1961 with a B.A. degree. While attending the University, Mike was captain of the Gopher football team and was an academic all-American. He then entered the University of Minnesota Law School, playing professional football in Canada under Bud Grant at the same time. After two professional football seasons, a Grey Cup Championship and All-Star honors, he retired from football and graduated with honors and the order of the coif in 1963. In addition to his position on the board of directors of SUPERVALU Inc., he is the immediate past chairman and current member of the board of Food Marketing Institute (FMI), a former chairman and current member of the board of directors of Food Distributors International (formerly NAWGA), serves on the boards of Independent Grocers Alliance (IGA) and CIES, The Food Business Forum. He is a member of the Board of Cargill, Inc., Wells Fargo & Company, and S.C. Johnson & Son. He serves as a Trustee Emeritus of the University of Minnesota Foundation, and is on the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota Law School Board of Visitors. He also serves on the St. Thomas Academy Board of Trustees. He is a 1999 recipient of the Horatio Alger Award. Mike is a past chairman of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank and of the Minnesota Business Partnership |
